Recall Alert: DEWALT Outdoor Portable Heaters

dewalt cordless propane heater recall

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced a product recall for DEWALT portable propane heaters due to potential overheating.

The heaters were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide from 2024 to 2025, with the recall alert being issued in April 2025. Read on to learn more.

Details About the Recalled Heater

  • Brand: DEWALT
  • Model: DXH70CFAV
  • Heater Type: 70,000 BTU Outdoor Portable Cordless Forced-Air Propane Heater
  • Color: Yellow and black
  • Markings: The DEWALT logo appears on the side, and the model number is printed on the unit’s hangtag and product label.

The heaters are designed for outdoor use and were marketed as portable powerful heating solutions for large spaces such as construction sites. The retail price was approximately $200.

According to the CPSC, all DXH70CFAVX heaters are affected regardless of serial number. They were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com between May 2024 and January 2025. Approximately 21,250 units were sold in the US, and 500 units in Canada.

Why is the Heater Being Recalled?

According to the CPSC, there is a risk of overheating due to incorrect operating instructions.

The instruction label can lead users to depress the start button too quickly after turning on the portable heater. This could prevent the fan from starting and cause the whole unit to overheat during use, potentially causing fire and burn hazards.

The power button and gas igniter switch up close. Pressing the Start button too fast can cause the fan not to start and lead to overheating.

There have been 11 reported instances of overheating, though no injuries have been reported.

What Should Consumers Do?

If you own one of the recalled heaters:

  1. Immediately stop using the heater.
  2. Contact the product importer Enerco Group to get an updated instruction manual and warning sticker.
