Empire Hearth: The Complete Buyer’s Guide Posted on October 1, 2026 Whenever the topic of premium gas fireplaces comes up, one name consistently appears among homeowners, contractors, and industry professionals: Empire Hearth, formerly known as White Mountain Hearth. Over the years, this venerable brand has earned a reputation for combining dependable engineering with timeless design. From traditional masonry-inspired fireplaces to sleek contemporary linear models, the company offers one of the industry’s most complete lineups of indoor and outdoor hearth products. In this brand feature, we explore everything you need to know about Empire Hearth / White Mountain Hearth fireplaces, gas logs, inserts, vent-free and direct vent systems. About Empire Hearth Empire Hearth, formerly known as White Mountain Hearth, a sub-brand of Empire Comfort Systems, one of the industry leaders in indoor and outdoor heating. In 1911, the company got its start as a humble sheet in Belleville, Illinois, before branching out into heating solutions in 1932. Since then, the brand has grown into a giant in the fireplace industry, offering high-quality vented and vent-free heaters, fireplaces and log sets from the same Illinois town it started. Empire was the first to offer a vent-free heater with an Oxygen Depletion Sensor, as well as the first gas-fired heater to achieve 80% efficiency. The company also manufactures fireplace inserts and cast iron stoves, sourced from American suppliers. It emphasizes domestic manufacturing and operates multiple Illinois production facilities supporting engineering, fabrication, and assembly. This matters because American manufacturing typically means better quality control and easier replacement parts. You also get strong dealer support from reliable vendors like Total Home Supply, as well as long-term availability of parts and accessories. Why Empire Hearth Is So Popular Every fall at Total Home Supply, we get an influx of orders for White Empire Hearth products, making it one of our most popular hearth brands. While many fireplace manufacturers specialize in only one style, Empire Hearth covers virtually every residential application. Here’s why the brand is extremely popular: ✔ Exceptional Product Variety To say that Empire Hearth has an “extensive product range” is an understatement. The brand offers: Traditional fireplaces Modern linear fireplaces Contemporary burners Gas inserts Cast iron stoves Outdoor fireplaces Gas logs This makes the brand a go-to among homeowners, builders and contractors for virtually any architectural style. ✔ Outstanding Heating Performance Many Empire Hearth fireplaces are designed as genuine heating appliances, not merely decorative fireplaces, thanks to patented technologies including: TruFlame burners: Designed to produce taller, fuller flames with a more natural appearance. Intermittent pilot ignition: allows for lower gas consumption and greater efficiency, while enabling automatic operation. Millivolt system: This enables the fireplace to operate without electricity, so it can function even during power outages ✔ Made in America Empire Hearth is proud of its domestically manufactured products. The company sources from North American suppliers whenever possible, and continues to design, manufacture, and assemble its products from Belleville, IL. ✔ Extensive Customization Customers can personalize virtually every part of their Empire Hearth product, including: Brick liners Reflective liners Decorative fronts Mantels Glass media Driftwood logs Traditional oak logs Birch logs Lighting packages Remote controls Blowers Empire Hearth Product Range 1.
